If you tend to go overboard and into debt during the holidays, try a new approach that can teach your kids about budgeting as well as giving to others.
First, tell them you have _______amount to spend per kid and have them make creative wish lists that fall within that budget. Then, help them to volunteer somewhere or to spend their allowance on donating to charity.
Keep them in the spirit of giving and beyond the notion of entitlement that so permeates our adolescents today.
