Consider starting a ritual this holiday season around the spirit of giving. Take your kids to volunteer at a shelter or organization of their own choosing where they can experience firsthand the power of offering service to others in need. Kids are not likely to think this will be fun so you may need to require it the first time. You can make something they want to do contingent on their satisfactory participation in these activities.
