Engage your adolescent in a personal growth contest this year by choosing just one behavior of your own to work on changing, and challenge your teen to pick one of his/her own.
Keep a written log during the year of your successes and compare progress on a weekly basis. Teens are motivated by challenges and their respect for you increases as they watch you follow through on your own commitments.
