When's the last time you spent time as a family in a park somewhere for a barbeque or a picnic or just games or playing
with the pets? Your adolescent will likely balk at the idea, and allowing your teen to invite a friend along is a useful motivator. Or better yet, invite the entire family of your teen's best friend.
Make it even bigger and organize a community potluck, or make it a neighborhood fun and games day. Get your adolescent involved in the planning and make it a monthly event. When teenagers complain that there's nothing to do and use this as an excuse for misbehavior, ask yourself what you can do to remedy their boredom and solicit their ideas for success.
