November, 2008

by Shannon K. Spellman, M.S.W.

With the elections having the theme of change, it's a nice time to assess what needs changed in your family.

Adolescents have a way of helping us focus on their behavior and what needs changed about that. How often do you wonder what needs changed about the cues you give that may illicit their behavior or the responses you have in reaction to their behavior?

Consider changing either of those yourself and see if it makes a difference in achieving the change you want. You will likely have to do this more than once to see results. But, when what you're doing isn't working, you have nothing to lose.
